The St. Louis Rams were hands-on with offensive tackles Jake Matthews of Texas A&M and Greg Robinson of Auburn on back-to-back pro days earlier this week, but the one who fits the Rams the best of any tackle is Robinson.
That's the opinion of NFL Films senior producer Greg Cosell, and NFL Media analyst Mike Mayock believes Robinson -- along with Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins -- helped himself as much as any draft prospect in pro days this week.
"The buzz this week has been Greg Robinson, the left tackle from Auburn," Mayock said on NFL Network's "NFL AM" on Friday. "From my perspective, if he went to St. Louis at No. 2 overall, it wouldn't surprise me at all."
And it wouldn't surprise Cosell, either.
"(The Rams) evolved into a running football team, and it would not surprise me if they take that approach, even with (quarterback Sam) Bradford back (from injury)," he told Midday 180 Radio. "If that's the approach they're going to take, I would take Greg Robinson at No. 2. I really like Greg Robinson. I think Matthews will be a really nice player. In some ways he is similar to his teammate from a year ago, Luke Joeckel. Repetitive execution are their strengths. Matthews may be a little bit better athlete, but I think Robinson is the best of this tackle group."
While Matthews' biggest adjustment in the NFL might be blocking at the point of attack in the running game, that was Robinson's specialty in a stellar sophomore season at Auburn. Robinson's adjustment will be learning a pro-style offense that is vastly different from the one he excelled in last season in Auburn's spread-option attack.
Clearly, Rams offensive line coach Paul Boudreau is examining all sides.
