Greg Jennings out for Green Bay Packers' Sunday game

There will be no uncertainty about Greg Jennings' status this week. The Green Bay Packers already have ruled out the wide receiver for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Jennings reaggravated a groin injury last Sunday during the Packers' 28-27 win over the New Orleans Saints. He missed Week 2 with the injury before sitting out the second half against the Saints. He didn't practice Thursday, according to NFL.com and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

"I had a conversation with Greg before practice, and we just talked through the history of his injury and we felt like we're going around in a circle," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. "So we just felt, 'Why take this decision all the way to Sunday?'

"We're going to shut him down for the week, and he's going to stay in the rehab process until next week."

The decision is not a surprise. McCarthy acknowledged earlier in the week that the Packers could shift to a more conservative approach in an effort to get Jennings completely healthy before he returns. Jennings said he was "extremely frustrated" by a situation he has never dealt with before.

"When Greg Jennings is on the field, we definitely have a chance to be a very good offense," McCarthy said. "I still think we can play a different way and play without Greg and still be very good."

With Jennings out, wide receiver Donald Driver finally could have an opportunity to work his way back into the Packers' offense. The veteran has just two receptions in limited playing time. He had 37 catches and six touchdowns a season ago.
