Giants TE Boss confirms he underwent minor hip surgery

New York Giants tight end Kevin Boss confirmed that he underwent surgery Wednesday on a hip that bothered him throughout the season.

The New York Daily News, citing a source familiar with the situation, described the surgery as a "minor" arthroscopic procedure.

Boss confirmed the surgery via his Twitter account, writing, "Surgery went very well...makes me excited for next season! I really appreciate all the thoughts and prayers!"

Boss, who will be a free agent this offseason, had 35 receptions for 531 yards and five touchdowns during the 2010 season. He didn't miss a game because of the hip injury, although he did sit out Week 2 with a concussion.

A source also told the Daily News that Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora, who had 11.5 sacks and 48 tackles, will undergo hip surgery next week.
