Geno Smith will visit New York Jets, Cleveland Browns

Will the recent acquisition of veteran quarterbacks by the Arizona Cardinals, Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Bills increase the chances that West Virginia's Geno Smith ends up with the New York Jets or Cleveland Browns?

Brooks: Mock Draft 6.0

After all the movement at the QB position, where will Geno Smith end up? Bucky Brooks figures it out in his latest mock draft. **More ...**

It seems likely, now that those three teams can afford to wait for a developmental quarterback in the second or third round.

Smith is visiting the Jets on Wednesday and Thursday before moving on to a private workout with the Browns on Saturday, reports NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

If drafted by the Jets at No. 9 overall, Smith would immediately become the favorite to start over embattled incumbent Mark Sanchez and rickety veteran David Garrard.

If the Browns get to Smith first at No. 6 overall, it would be validation for the sentiment that the new regime has major concerns about the long-term viability of last year's first-round pick, Brandon Weeden.

Former front office leaders Mike Holmgren and Tom Heckert have yet to catch on with another NFL team, which means the Browns could have trouble finding a trading partner should they pull the plug on Weeden in favor of Smith.
