Florida State sophomore wide receiver Jesus Wilson, a potential starter this season, has been suspended from the team after being charged with one count of grand theft of a vehicle.
The Florida Times-Union reported that Florida State campus police said Wilson stole a scooter on June 11. The Times-Union report said he later crashed the scooter, then told police after the crash that he had borrowed the scooter from a friend.
The Times-Union reported that Wilson later e-mailed a statement to police saying he took the scooter; he was arrested two days later. Because Wilson has been charged with a third-degree felony, school rules require that he be suspended from team activities until the issue is resolved or the charges are reduced to a misdemeanor. He's not eligible to play or travel with the team during his suspension, but can practice.
Wilson, who had three receptions for 23 yards last season, is in the mix to start opposite star senior Rashad Greene at wide receiver. FSU has little experience other than Greene at receiver. Wilson (5-foot-9, 177 pounds) has good speed and could become an important playmaker.
