Frank Gore is slated to enter the boxing ring Saturday, but San Francisco 49ers fans won't need to fret over his well-being.

Jeremiah: Return trips unlikely

How hard is it to make it to the AFC or NFC Championship Game two straight years? Daniel Jeremiah says recent history doesn't bode well for Ravens, Patriots, 49ers, Giants. **More ...**

The veteran back has joined the entourage of Nonito Donaire. Gore's role in this posse is high-profile: He'll roll out his best Lovely Elizabeth impression, toting Donaire's WBO super bantamweight belt into the ring, according to maxboxing.com, via Comcast SportsNet Bay Area.

Donaire (28-1-0) is scheduled to fight Jeffrey Mathebula (don't worry, we've never heard of him, either) at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

Gore and Donaire formed a friendship after working with the same speed coach, Remi Korchemny.

All in all, a harmless offseason endeavor, and far less unsettling than watching Floyd Mayweather co-opt Justin Bieber for belt duties earlier this year before a deeply confused Las Vegas audience.
