Fines roundup: Texans DB Brandon Harris docked $21K

During a week in which the NFL fined Robert Griffin III $10,000 for wearing unauthorized apparel -- namely, his on-the-nose "Operation Patience" garb -- the Washington Redskins quarterback wasn't the only player with a league-mandated envelope stuffed into his locker this week:

» Carolina Panthers safety Colin Jones was fined $21,000 for unnecessary roughness for hitting a defenseless in the player Panthers' 4-17 victory over the Bears Aug. 9, sources told Adam L. Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times. Jones hit Bears long snapper Patrick Mannelly while blocking during a punt return, but was not penalized during the game.

» Chicago Bears linebacker Jon Bostic was fined $21,000 for his hit on receiver Mike Willie in the Bears' 33-28 win over the San Diego Chargers, sources the Chicago Sun-Times.

»Houston Texans defensive back Brandon Harris was fined $21,000 for unnecessary roughness for hitting a defenseless player in the head and neck during a 24-17 preseason win over the Miami Dolphins, a league source told NFL.com's Ian Rapoport on Friday.

»Dallas Cowboys cornerback Micah Pellerin was fined $15,750 for unnecessary roughness during last Friday's 19-17 loss to the Oakland Raiders, per Rapoport.

»New York Giants cornerback Aaron Ross was fined $7,785 for grabbing Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne by the facemask during Sunday night's 20-12 loss to Indianapolis, a league spokesman confirmed to NFL.com and NFL Network.

» We already knew about Jon Bostic's slap on the wrist. Rapoport confirmed Wednesday the Chicago Bears rookie linebacker was fined $21,000 for lowering his head against a defenseless player. That came during a pile-driving tackle of San Diego Chargers wide receiver Mike Willie.

»Denver Broncos wide receiver Andre Caldwell was fined $7,875 for grabbing a facemask while covering on a punt return during Saturday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks, according to Rapoport.
