Ex-NFL head coach Mora a candidate for Eagles' DC job

Jim Mora, former NFL head coach and current NFL Network analyst, has been identified as a candidate to replace Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Sean McDermott, who was fired, a league source said Sunday.

The Eagles have contacted Mora, but they haven't scheduled an interview.

Mora also could become the defensive coordinator on new coach John Fox's Denver Broncos staff.

Mora last coached the Seattle Seahawks in 2009 and also spent three seasons (2004-06) running the Atlanta Falcons. He was the San Francisco 49ers' defensive coordinator from 1999 to 2003.

The Eagles' 21st-ranked defense allowed 216.8 passing yards and 110.4 rushing yards per game this past season under McDermott, who is under consideration for positions in Denver and Carolina, according to league sources.

Eagles secondary coach Dick Jauron, a top candidate to become the Cleveland Browns' next defensive coordinator, also could replace McDermott in Philadelphia.
