Dwight Freeney, John Abraham to visit Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos have an offer out to Elvis Dumervil in the aftermath of The Fax Fiasco. They're setting up alternative options as well.

NFL.com's Albert Breer reported Wednesday that defensive end John Abraham and outside linebacker Dwight Freeney are scheduled to visit with the Broncos on Thursday, according to a team source.

This visits don't come as a surprise. Broncos executive John Elway said this week that Denver will continue to explore other options. Dumervil is being courted by the Baltimore Ravens. The Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly also are in the mix.

Abraham and Freeney are fallback options who likely can be had at half the cost of Dumervil, who agreed to lower his 2013 salary from $12 million to $8 million before logistical issues tore his world asunder.

There's still a chance Dumervil will come back to Denver and the sides will move on from an ugly mistake. If not, the Broncos have the choice of two accomplished veterans waiting to step in at a bargain price.
