Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Paul Soliai signed his franchise tender Saturday, according to a tweet sent by his agent, David Canter.
Soliai is looking for a long-term deal, but on Thursday, he was slapped with the franchise tag, ensuring he will be paid roughly $12.5 million for his services in 2011.
Soliai made just $467,000 in 2010, but the 6-foot-4, 355-pound nose tackle had a breakout season, emerging as a run-stopper after three disappointing years.
Canter said Soliai is now the Dolphins' highest-paid defensive player.
