Denver Broncos' backup quarterback job up for grabs

Peyton Manning's return was the biggest news to come out of the Denver Broncos' 31-3 victory over the Chicago Bears in the teams' preseason opener, but it wasn't the only quarterback storyline.

Following a Bears turnover in the first quarter, Caleb Haine took over for Manning in a first-and-goal situation from the 6-yard line. The Broncos moved 4 yards backward before settling for a field goal.

Moments later, Hanie was trending nationwide on Twitter. Not the good kind of trending, either.

Hanie finished 7-of-14 passing for 79 yards before giving way to rookie Brock Osweiler (5-of-10 passing, 55 yards, one TD), who led the Broncos on two scoring drives. Adam Weber finished the game and threw for a 25-yard touchdown on his first pass.

With Manning's health a legitimate question mark, the Broncos need a quarterback into whom they can put their faith. On Thursday, it wasn't Caleb Hanie.
