One week after the Dallas Cowboys handed quarterback Tony Romo no less than $52 million in guaranteed cash, the team's best defensive player is making a guarantee of his own.
Pass rusher DeMarcus Ware promised Friday that the Cowboys will surpass the 8-8 mark that's hung over Dallas for the past two campaigns.
"(We will) have a better season than last year," Ware told NBC Sports Network's "ProFootballTalk." "We will not be .500 like the last two years we've been, I can tell you that."
Ware said "the blame goes on everybody," not just on Romo, for the Cowboys winning just one playoff game under the quarterback's watch.
"There have been some mistakes that he's made, there have been some mistakes that a lot of people have made, even myself," Ware said.
On Thursday, Ware declared that "it's put up or shut up" time for Romo after Romo signed his massive six-year contract extension, but he wisely acknowledges that same pressure falls on everyone from owner/general manager Jerry Jones on down. Romo -- one of the few consistent performers in Big D -- is the least of their problems.
