DeAngelo Williams 'week to week' with sprained ankle

If you're looking for work, can we interest you in a backfield job down in sunny Carolina?

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams is "week to week" after suffering a sprained ankle in Sunday's 38-10 loss to the Ravens. After Williams left the stadium in a walking boot, his status for the team's Week 5 tilt against the Bears is in serious doubt, according to a source informed of the injury.

Carolina's ground game has been stripped to the bone.

With Jonathan Stewart and Mike Tolbert also out of the lineup, the Panthers found themselves down to Tauren Poole and rookie Darrin Reaves. It's no help that a banged-up Cam Newton doesn't look himself when moving outside of the pocket.

The news gets worse: Coming off two straight ugly losses, the Panthers face a rugged schedule that -- after the Bears tilt -- features games against the Bengals, Packers, Seahawks, Saints, Eagles and Falcons.
