NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that Manning and the Cincinnati Bengals are finalizing a one-year deal, according to a source informed of the situation. The team later officially announced the signing.

The veteran safety found a new home three days after being released by the Houston Texans. Manning visited with the Bengals on Tuesday and had a trip scheduled to meet with the Kansas City Chiefs. He never got there.
Manning reunites with Vance Joseph, who joined the Bengals this offseason after previously serving as the defensive backs coach of the Texans. Manning will likely compete for the third safety spot behind Reggie Nelson, George Iloka and the recently re-signed Taylor Mays.
Manning's brief stay on the unemployment line is not a surprise. Despite his age (31) and injury history (he missed 10 games last season with a broken leg), Manning instantly became the best safety on the market once the Texans cut ties.
