Denver Broncos linebacker D.J. Williams has appealed a federal judge's decision to dismiss his bid to overturn a six-game drug suspension by the NFL.
Williams filed the appeal Friday to a U.S. District Court in the Colorado District, according to the Denver Post. His lawsuit had been dismissed by Judge Christine Arguello on Thursday.
If the appeal is denied, Williams will serve the six-game suspension at the season's onset for violating the NFL's anabolic steroid and related substances policy.
Williams was accussed of manipulating his specimen. The former first-round pick sued the league, arguing that an NFL specimen collector violated protocol in collecting the samples.
Williams is also set to stand trial in August on a DUI charge, which could lead to additional punishment under the NFL's personal-conduct policy.
