The Dallas Cowboys didn't get a last-minute shot to earn a tie and force overtime with the New York Giants on Sunday.
After holding the Giants on three-straight runs to force a punt, Dallas should have had about 1:30 for Matt Cassel to try and engineer an 80-plus yard touchdown drive to tie the score. Instead Cole Beasley muffed a punt, which bounced right to a streaking Myles White for the turnover. Game over.
Following the contest Beasley took to Twitter to apologize for his blunder.
Making matters worse for Cowboys fans was that former Dallas return man Dwayne Harris went untouched earlier in the quarter to provide the Giants' winning margin.
While Beasley's error certainly ended the game, given Cassel's play there was only a sliver of hope he'd lead an 85-yard touchdown drive in under two minutes with no timeouts and Dez Bryant in street clothes.
While the wideout is right to lament his error, it was an entire team loss. Jerry Jones' squad has now dropped four straight sans Tony Romo. Luckily they reside in the NFC East, where every team still has a shot at the division.
