Chris Kluwe calls out Hall of Fame for ignoring punters

Chris Kluwe, the Minnesota Vikings punter who has elevated his ability to get covered on sports blogs into an art form, wants you to know he doesn't respect a Pro Football Hall of Fame that doesn't respect Ray Guy.

On Sunday, Kluwe wrote "Vote Ray Guy" on his jersey patch that commemorates the Hall of Fame's 50th anniversary.

Guy spent his entire career with the Oakland Raiders, playing in seven Pro Bowls and winning three Super Bowls. Arguably the best punter ever, Guy is a member of the NFL's 75th Anniversary Team. Despite those achievements, he is not enshrined in Canton. No pure punter ever has been honored with a bronze bust.

Kluwe called it "a sham of a system if you're not going to acknowledge every facet of the game," according to The Associated Press.

"Why am I going to support a Hall of Fame that doesn't have a punter in it?" said Kluwe, who also has been vocal in his support of same-sex marriage rights.

In a league that fines players for wearing their socks improperly, Kluwe can expect a FedEx envelope sitting on his stool in the near future. On the plus side, he has a killer pot roast dinner coming his way at the Guy household.
