The days of Chris Johnson leading the NFL in rushing attempts are over. The buzzword around the Tennessee Titans these days is balance.
"We were more of a smash-mouth team when I got here," Chris Johnson told The Tennessean. "And now it is more of a passing offense."
Wyche: Great expectations
Several RBs have hit huge paydays over the past two offseasons. Steve Wyche says these guys better put up, or else ... **More ...**
Johnson sounds happy about it. He still expects to have a "big role" but doesn't believe defenses will know what's coming like in the past.
"Since I got here, a lot of seasons, everybody has been keying on me," Johnson told the Tennessean. "So, having all the extra additions, I feel good that everybody is not going to be able to key on me. I feel like a lot of teams won't be able to focus on me like they have in years past."
The Titans quietly have the ingredients for an explosive offense. Their offensive tackle position is strong. Kenny Britt should be back in the lineup. Rookie Kendall Wright is a huge addition to the offense. Jared Cook is a big-play threat at tight end, and even Johnson's backup, Javon Ringer, can make plays.
We're not sure we'd classify them as a "passing offense", whether Matt Hasselbeck or Jake Locker is behind center, but we do think there are enough weapons here for the Titans to challenge the Houston Texans in the AFC South.
