Chargers, Khalil Mack agree to one-year, $18 million fully guaranteed contract

Khalil Mack is staying in Los Angeles for his 13th NFL season.

The Chargers and Mack agreed to a one-year deal, $18 million deal that is fully guaranteed, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Saturday. The team later announced the news.

Rapoport reported on March 2 that Mack intended to play in 2026 and the Chargers were prioritizing re-signing him. Now, the club has done just that, running it back with the three-time All-Pro pass rusher for at least another year.

Rapoport added that the Chargers would also like to re-sign linebacker Odafe Oweh.

Mack, 35, was ranked 34th on Gregg Rosenthal’s list of top 101 free agents.

Despite suffering an elbow injury early in the 2025 season, Mack proved yet again that he can disrupt opposing quarterbacks as he produced 32 tackles, 5.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and a safety in 12 games.

Mack began his career as the No. 5 overall pick in the 2014 draft by the Raiders. He spent four seasons with the Silver and Black before being traded to the Chicago Bears ahead of the 2018 season. After four seasons with the Bears, he was traded to the Chargers in the 2022 offseason. Locked in for Year 5 with the Chargers, he’s remained the same terrorizing pass rusher and consistent presence for Los Angeles that he's been everywhere else.

Mack saw two defensive teammates, linebacker Tuli Tuipulotu and safety Derwin James, make the Pro Bowl roster last season. The defensive trio helped guide the Bolts defense to ninth in points allowed per game (19.8) and sixth in yards allowed per game (290.6).

Mack’s NFL résumé will certainly earn him a spot in Canton. He’s made nine Pro Bowl appearances and was a member of the 2010s All-Decade Team. The only times Mack has failed to earn a Pro Bowl nod outside of his rookie campaign were two injury-shortened seasons -- 2021 and 2025.

Over the course of his career, Mack has totaled 113 sacks, 148 tackles for loss, 196 QB hits, three interceptions and two safeties in 179 career games.

Mack will be looking to add more to his career totals in another season with the Chargers.
