Another day, another trade for the Colts.
Indianapolis on Tuesday sent pass rusher Caesar Rayford to Dallas in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick, according to the Cowboys' official website.
The move marks the 15th trade for Colts general manager Ryan Grigson since he assumed power following the 2011 season. For the Cowboys, the swap brings much-needed depth to the front seven.
Rayford came out of nowhere this summer, piling up an NFL-leading five sacks in the preseason, after three campaigns spent with the Utah Blaze of the Arena Football League. The undrafted defender out of Washington -- who projects as a 4-3 end in Dallas -- earned high praise from Colts coach Chuck Pagano, who called Rayford a "football junkie."
The Cowboys -- with four trades of their own in four days -- are paper thin behind starters DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer. The only other ends on the team's 53-man roster are Kyle Wilber and George Selvie.
Rayford graded out as the preseason's third-best pass rusher, per Pro Football Focus, but the preseason is history. Rayford now must prove he can do it play after play in games populated by the league's top talent.
