The Cleveland Browns have made their first splash of free agency.
NFL Media's Albert Breer reported Monday that the Browns and wide receiver Brian Hartline have agreed to a two-year, $6 million deal, according to his agent. Hartline played his first six seasons with the Dolphins before being released last month. Dustin Fox of WMMS-FM had the first report.
Hartline -- an Ohio native who played his college ball at Ohio State -- should slide into Cleveland's starting lineup as an outside receiver in a Josh Gordon-free offense. Hartline had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2012 and 2013, but fell off considerably last season, finishing with just 39 receptions for 474 yards and two touchdowns.
It's not a flashy signing by the Browns, but Hartline does give the offense a proven possession receiver who still should have some spring in his legs at 28.
