Although bothered by a strained groin and a stiff back, McNair was on the active list in Baltimore's game against the St. Louis Rams. McNair hurt his groin in the season opener and recently developed a sore back that forced him to miss practice during the latter part of the week.

It's the second start of the season for Boller, who went 23-for-35 for 185 yards and two touchdowns in a Sept. 16 win over the New York Jets.

Troy Smith was the third quarterback for Baltimore on an inactive list that included center Mike Flynn and offensive tackles Jonathan Ogden and Adam Terry. Rookie Jared Gaither started at left tackle for Ogden, Chris Chester replaced Flynn and rookie Marshal Yanda started at right tackle for Terry.

A third rookie, Ben Grubbs, started at right guard for the Ravens.

Rams inactives included wide receivers Isaac Bruce, Dante Hall and Dane Looker. Also on the inactive list were running back Steven Jackson, defensive end Trevor Johnson, safety Corey Chavous, linebacker Raonall Smith and and center Nick Leckey.

Brian Leonard started for Jackson, Todd Johnson subbed for Chavous, and Drew Bennett replaced Bruce.

For the second straight week, Gus Frerotte started at quarterback for St. Louis, replacing Marc Bulger (ribs)
