Blaine Gabbert, making his first start since being injured in the season opener, threw three interceptions and completed 17 of 32 passes with zero touchdowns in the Jacksonville Jaguars' 37-3 blowout loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
However, after watching the game tape, Jags coach Gus Bradley actually was more impressed with the quarterback than he was after the game.
"I would say (my opinion of Gabbert is) stronger now after watching the tape," Bradley said, per The Florida Times-Union. "I saw him scramble around and make a play to Clay Harbor. I saw him scramble around and throw it to Ace (Sanders) on an explosive play. I saw him do some things."
Bradley is citing consecutive plays of 31 and 27 yards to start the fourth quarter. On both plays, Gabbert was flushed from the pocket and was able to connect with his receiver. They were the Jaguars' only plays of 16 yards or more.
Gabbert struggled to get the ball out quickly, and he rarely made the right read. To be fair, he didn't receive much help from his wideouts. He tried to force some throws into tight windows, and each of his interceptions came on tipped balls.
The Jaguarsannounced Monday the signing of quarterback Ricky Stanzi to the 53-man roster.
No quarterback on the roster can make a difference for the Jaguars. We believe Bradley knows this. Finding the bright spots in Gabbert's play is his only move.
