Bengals QB Joe Burrow suffers toe injury vs. Jaguars; Jake Browning leads wild win

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was ruled out of Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, a wild 31-27 win for Cincinnati, after suffering a first-half left toe injury.

Burrow went down awkwardly when he was sacked by Jaguars defender Arik Armstead in the second quarter. Burrow was attended to on the field by the Bengals training staff and then limped off the field and exited to the Cincinnati locker room.

Burrow was seen on the CBS broadcast attempting to walk to the locker room under his own power, but he eventually required assistance from a trainer.

The Bengals initially announced that Burrow was questionable to return, but the team eventually ruled him out toward the end of the third quarter.

Coach Zac Taylor had no update on Burrow after the game, while NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported later Sunday that Burrow was diagnosed with turf toe. Local reporters spotted Burrow moving around the post-game locker room in a walking boot and using a single crutch.

Jake Browning replaced Burrow at QB with Cincinnati trailing, 14-7, in the second quarter.

The Browning experience was a roller coaster for Cincy on Sunday. He threw three interceptions, but also accounted for three total touchdowns, including the game-winning score on a 1-yard sneak in the final seconds.

In all, Browning completed 21 of 32 passes for 241 yards in the win.

Burrow was 7-of-13 passing for 76 yards with an early touchdown pass to Ja'Marr Chase at the time of his injury.

Burrow led the NFL in passing last season, but he has had multiple seasons marred by injuries in his six-year career. His rookie season was cut short due to a torn ACL, and a wrist injury ended his 2023 campaign in mid-November.

Browning started seven games for the Bengals following Burrow's wrist injury in 2023, going 4-3.
