Baylor wide receiver Corey Coleman underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair a sports hernia, NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt confirmed. Coleman, who intends to enter the 2016 NFL Draft, posted a post-surgery photo to his Instagram account.
Coleman, a junior, became the first Baylor player to win the Biletnikoff Award earlier this month, an honor given to college football's top wide receiver, and his future appears to be very bright. Baylor coach Art Briles told Brandt that Coleman should be at full strength for the NFL Scouting Combine in February, should he be granted early entry into the draft.
The Bears will be without Coleman, their leading receiver, and top rusher Shock Linwood when they meet North Carolina on Dec. 29 in the Russell Athletic Bowl -- Linwood recently underwent foot surgery.
