Austin Collie's NFL career has taken yet another disappointing turn.
Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano announced Monday that the wide receiver suffered a ruptured patella tendon in his right knee during Sunday's game, according to The Indianapolis Star. Collie will be placed on injured reserve, ending his season.
Collie was injured while attempting to make a catch over the middle during the Colts' 22-17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. He clutched his helmet while on the ground, prompting fears he had suffered another head injury.
Multiple concussions have stalled the wide receiver's promising career. Thankfully, there was no such issue Sunday, but the knee injury is a devastating setback for a player who will be a free agent after the season.
Collie has the tools to be a successful receiver, but his durability issues surely will scare off plenty of teams. That includes the Colts.
UPDATE: Collie acknowledged his injury on Twitter later Monday.
