On this Veterans Day, Pittsburgh Steelers players won't have to go far to thank a military man.
First Lt. Alejandro Villanueva, who was signed to the Steelers' practice squad earlier this year, remains in the Army Reserve.
Villanueva joined NFL AM on Tuesday to discuss how he juggles life on an NFL team and in the Reserve.
"Everybody is really friendly in the unit," he said. "They understand that my job here comes first, which is kind of tough, obviously, coming from active duty. But it's been outstanding. I love everyone in the unit and so for me living in Pittsburgh has been an awesome treat."
The 6-foot-9 U.S. Army Ranger was released by the Philadelphia Eagles after trying to convert to defensive end. He is now back to offensive line, which he played at West Point. Villanueva said he's put on weight to adjust to the position switch and is looking forward to making the active roster next year.
