Antwan Barnes put on New York Jets' injured reserve

Antwan Barnes' season was cut short once again.

The New York Jets placed the linebacker on injured reserve after he suffered a knee injury early in Monday night's win, according to the team's official Twitter account.

The Jets signed linebacker Ricky Sapp on Wednesday to the active roster in a corresponding move.

Barnes signed with the Jets in the offseason after going on IR late last season, after he suffered a hamstring injury with the San Diego Chargers.

The eight-year veteran was part of a strong Jets rotation that has gotten after quarterbacks. Barnes, a situational pass rusher in nickel packages, had two sacks and three tackles through the first five games of the season.

Barnes has played all 16 games in a season only once in his career.
