Alfred Morris of Redskins wins Pepsi Max rookie of the week

Voters on NFL.com have made their choice. Running back Alfred Morris of the Washington Redskins is the Pepsi Max NFL Rookie of the Week for games played on Oct. 18-22, the NFL announced Friday.

Morris was selected from among five finalists through fan votes on NFL.com/rookies. The other finalists were linebacker Dont'a Hightower of the New England Patriots, quarterback Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts, running back Doug Martin of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and safety Harrison Smith of the Minnesota Vikings.

After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Pepsi MAX NFL Rookie of the Year honors. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/rookies throughout the month of January. The Pepsi MAX NFL Rookie of the Year will be announced at the second annual "NFL Honors" awards show in New Orleans on Saturday, February 2, the night before Super Bowl XLVII.

PEPSI ROOKIE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

Dont'a Hightower, New England Patriots

Hightower recorded seven tackles and one sack in the Patriots' 29-26 overtime win against the New York Jets.

Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts

Luck completed 16 of 29 passes for 186 yards and added two touchdowns on the ground in the Colts' 17-13 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

Doug Martin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Martin gained 85 yards on 16 carries and scored one touchdown in the Buccaneers' 35-28 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Alfred Morris, Washington Redskins

Morris rushed for 120 yards on 22 carries in the Redskins' 27-23 loss to the New York Giants.

Harrison Smith, Minnesota Vikings

Smith recorded five tackles and pulled in his first career interception, which he returned 31 yards for a score as the Vikings beat the Arizona Cardinals 21-14.
