1987 AFC Championship

Broncos 38, Browns 33
Denver -- Jan. 17, 1988 -- If the previous year produced "The Drive," this game ended with "The Fumble."

Denver led by seven with 1:05 to play, but Earnest Byner —- who had already scored twice to help rally the Browns from a 21-3 deficit -- appeared headed for the game-tying touchdown. Just before reaching the goal line, however, he was hit hard by cornerback Jeremiah Castille, who stripped the ball and then fell on the fumble. The play preserved the win and assured Denver of its second straight AFC title and a trip to Super Bowl XXII.
