Will Hill suspended by NFL for violating PED policy

New York Giants safety Will Hill has been suspended without pay for four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance enhancing substances, a league spokesperson confirmed Monday.

Hill's suspension begins immediately, leaving him eligible to return to the team on November 5, the Monday prior to the team's Week 10 road date with the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Giants rookie tested positive for Adderral, the team announced.

"I received a doctor's prescription for Adderall prior to signing with the Giants," Hill said. "Shortly after signing with the team, I was in a meeting with (director of player development) Charles Way, who reviewed the list of the league's banned substances. I knew at that point that this may be an issue.

"I was tested and the results came back that Adderall was in my system. I appealed but lost the appeal. I accept full responsibility for this situation, and it won't happen again. The Giants have given me a great opportunity when nobody else would, and I don't take that for granted. I feel badly this has happened. I will work hard and stay in great shape these next four weeks so I can come back and contribute to this team after my suspension."

The Giants on Monday added safety Tyler Sash to their 53-man roster. Sash -- we should note -- also received a four-game suspension for Adderral to start the season.

Hill signed with the Giants as a free agent in May. Considered a top prospect during his days at Florida, Hill went undrafted in 2011 after scaring off teams with a combination of his arrest record, his suspension as a member of the Gators and his wildly colorful Twitter account that raised the eyebrows of potential future employers.
