Washington's Steve Sarkisian bypasses NFL interviews

Steve Sarkisian is staying put.

The University of Washington coach has declined interview requests by NFL teams and plans to stay in his current position, sources apprised of Sarkisian's plans told NFL.com's Albert Breer.

Sarkisian has publicly acknowledged a desire to coach in the NFL, but he turned down an interview request from the St. Louis Rams last year.

Sarkisian was an offensive assistant and coordinator at USC before taking over the Washington program in 2009. He is known for working with quarterbacks Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, Mark Sanchez and Jake Locker in college.
