Tyler Wilson signs with Cincinnati Bengals

With Jason Campbell nursing a shoulder injury, the Cincinnati Bengals have added another quarterback.

The team on Saturday announced the signing of free-agent passer Tyler Wilson, the former Raiders draft pick who was waived by the Tennessee Titans last week.

Coach Marvin Lewis told reporters earlier in the day that Campbell suffered a deep bruise on his throwing arm after taking a leveling shot from a defender in Thursday's wild 41-39 preseason loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

"We'll see how Jason is," Lewis said. "Jason will rest (Saturday). He should be fine to get back to work next week, but we will just bring a quarterback ... so we don't have to rush him if he's still sore."

Wilson is no upgrade. The Raiders -- eternally searching for young talent at the position -- waived him at final cuts last summer just months after making the former Arkansas passer their fourth-round pick.

The Titans parted ways last week amid reports that Wilson was "very bad" during Tennessee's training camp.

With Campbell, Matt Scott and rookie AJ McCarron penciled in behind Andy Dalton, this amounts to little more than a temp assignment for a second-year player building a journeyman's resume.
