A nerve injury in his shoulder took away much of Williams' effectiveness last season. He gave much more cushion at the line than customary and wasn't able to be as physical as normal.
A healthy Williams is one of the top cover men in the NFL, and Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capersgave him the assignment of marking Chicago Bears receiver Brandon Marshall much of Thursday night. Williams picked off Jay Cutler twice for his first two interceptions of 2012 and is halfway to matching his 2011 total.
"We've done that a lot," Capers told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "You've seen Tramon match up when we play (Calvin) Johnson from the Lions. Tramon's our veteran guy that we feel can match up and cover most people.
"He's got the savvy and can study how guys run their routes. He did a nice job (Thursday) night."
