The Miami Dolphins are following through on their plans to go after top free-agent wide receiver Mike Wallace. They might end up bidding against themselves.
Sports Illustrated's Peter King reported Monday morning that the Dolphins "didn't have much, if any, competition for a big-money deal" for Wallace during the start of the NFL's free-agent negotiating period.
Big money in this case is around the $11 million per season, Dwayne Bowe/Vincent Jackson type-deals.
The Dolphins always have been linked with Wallace, as they have a need for dynamic offensive playmakers and the salary cap space to make a big signing.

The Minnesota Vikings, who are dealing with Percy Harvin drama, were expected to be one of the teams to bid for Wallace's services. A weekend report said the New England Patriots"have some interest" in Wallace as well.
However, King's story indicates no team is willing to make the kind of financial investment in Wallace that the Dolphins are prepared to make.
Miami put its "Plan A" into motion last week when it re-signed Brian Hartline. It sounds like that plan is moving forward swimmingly in South Beach.
UPDATE: Following league-wide expectation, the Palm Beach Post hears from someone they trust that Wallace to the Dolphins is a "done deal."
