Report: Andre Holmes out 3-4 weeks with broken hand

While Amari Cooper has operated as the belle of the ball in Oakland, not every wide receiver on the roster has his arrow pointing up.

Pass-catcher Andre Holmessuffered a fractured hand in Sunday's practice and is expected to miss three to four weeks, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

With Cooper and Michael Crabtree penciled in as starters, Holmes was battling Kenbrell Thompkins for the team's No. 4 job behind Rod Streater. From that angle, the injury is far from a disaster for the Raiders. Holmes, though, can hardly afford the setback.

The fifth-year wideout saw just one target over 18 snaps in Oakland's preseason win over the Rams. Holmes made the most of it, though, hauling in Christian Ponder's three-yard pass for a second-quarter touchdown. He finished last season with 693 yards and four scores off 47 catches.

The Raiders are in a better position than last year at receiver, especially with Cooper looking like a first-year star for a team desperately looking for playmakers. Holmes will be back soon enough to battle for snaps.
