Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reported the Jets have had discussions with Landry's representatives and would like to re-sign the hard-hitting safety. That could be difficult because Landry is expected to seek at least $6 million per year on the open market after his Pro Bowl season in 2012.
The Jets remains cap-strapped, and Landry will want to gauge his value league-wide before settling down long term. Landry played a full 16-game season for the first time since 2008 and the Jets -- reportedly shopping Revis -- can't afford to lose another key member of their defensive backfield.
Keep in mind that the Oakland Raiders signed safety Tyvon Branch to a four-year, $26.6 million contract last summer, with $17.6 million guaranteed. Landry might be willing to accept less, but the Jets are in a tough position to bring him back and threaten to field a vastly different-looking secondary in 2013.
