New York Jets can't shake Tim Tebow's ghost

We got a kick out of the back page of the New York Daily News on Tuesday.

It featured a cartoon of Tim Tebow dressed like Pat Patriot, right down to the buckles on his shoes. Bill Belichick is on one knee, Tebowing in front of his new third-string quarterback. The headline reads "GOD HELP US: Tebow, Belichick team up for full-scale attack on Jets."

That might be an overstatement. Tebow isn't guaranteed regular playing time, or even a job with the New England Patriots. It's safe to say Tebow preparation is fairly low on the Jets' list of concerns in what will be a very challenging 2013 season.

Still, the Jets must be at least somewhat frustrated by the reality that Tebow is now back in their lives after joining an AFC East team. Tebow's time with the Jets was a debacle, a gross miscalculation that hurt the team and cost people jobs. New York Jets coach Rex Ryan can expect Tebow to be a main focus during his Tuesday morning press conference at Florham Park. On a day when his team is beginning mandatory minicamp, we're sure Ryan would rather talk about anything else.

From a Jets fan perspective, all you can do is hope. Hope that Belichick -- like Tony Sparano before him -- is unable to find a niche that allows Tebow to make an impact on Sundays, specifically the two weeks when the Jets and Pats meet in 2013.

Tebow's no longer in the building for the Jets, but he's not out of their lives. He's the gift that keeps on giving to Rex Ryan.
