Nine months later, Beckum is back.
Multiple sources have reported Beckum was activated to the Giants' 53-man roster Saturday from the physically unable to perform list. To clear room for Beckum, New York waived guard Mitch Petrus.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen first reported the move.
Beckum -- a third-round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft -- returned to practice last week. Star-Ledger's Jenny Vrentas reported that Beckum took practice reps this week with the first-team offense in two tight end sets. He also worked with the top special teams groups.
The Giants might have a need at tight end with Bear Pascoe continuing to deal with an ankle injury. Pascoe is questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
UPDATE: The Giants later announced that Beckum had been added to the 53-man roster.
