Mike Glennon reportedly visiting Chicago Bears

With Jay Cutler set to play out his contract this season in Chicago, the Bears loom as a dark-horse candidate to pick up a quarterback in this week's 2013 NFL Draft.

CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora reported Monday the Bears will work out N.C. State passer Mike Glennon in Raleigh, N.C., on Tuesday. It's the first time we've heard Glennon's name linked to the team.

With just five picks in the draft, the Bears haven't been mentioned in many quarterback conversations, but with inconsistent Josh McCown and the unproven Matt Blanchard backing up Cutler, grooming a young arm makes sense.

New Bears coach Marc Trestman is going to spend this season assessing if Cutler is the right guy for his pass-oriented attack. Another inconsistent, injury-riddled season from the 29-year-old passer likely would mark the end of Cutler's run in the Windy City.

Like Cutler, the 6-foot-7 Glennon is a strong-armed passer, but he was plagued by uneven play in college. Still, NFL Films senior producer Greg Cosell thinks highly of Glennon, saying he has "more of the attributes that you look for than maybe any other quarterback in this class."

We'll find out this week if the Bears agree.
