When Mark Sanchez got the word that he was on the move again, he couldn't have asked for a better situation than landing with the Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos.
"This is one of the best organizations in sports, not just football," Sanchez told reporters during a Monday press conference at Broncos headquarters. "So when I got the phone call and (Eagles GM) Howie Roseman said, 'I'm trading you to Denver,' I was like, 'Denver, Colorado? Are you kidding? OK, yeah, let's do it.' This just an absolute dream come true."
"Get in here and compete your butt off for a starting role. That's my goal to start this coming fall and be ready to play and help this team win."
"I've seen a lot in this league. I'm not married. I don't have a girlfriend. I don't have kids. I just want to play ball and I want to win. I really want to win, and I'm so lucky to be in a spot like this."
At the time of the Sanchez trade, Elway tweeted that the move was "the first step in our process," an obvious allusion to the team's plan to add more options at quarterback. Sanchez is far from the favorite to be Denver's Week 1 starter, but even being in the mix presents something of a best-case scenario for the veteran.
