Kyler Murray clears concussion protocol, will start for Vikings in Week 3 vs. Buccaneers
Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray has been cleared from the NFL's concussion protocol, putting him in place to start for 2-0 Minnesota against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3, head coach Kevin O'Connell announced on Monday.
Murray practiced throughout last week in a limited capacity in the lead up to Week 2's game against the Chicago Bears but was ruled out on Friday.
Carson Wentz started Sunday's 9-3 win over the Bears and went 11 of 20 for 143 yards on a rainy day at Soldier Field.

In his first season with the Vikings after seven with the Arizona Cardinals, Murray’s debut for Minnesota was cut short when he suffered a concussion in the first quarter of his team’s Week 1 39-22 win over the Green Bay Packers. Murray slid during the play but incurred a big hit from Green Bay’s Javon Bullard and Lukas Van Ness.
Murray was replaced by Wentz, who would help lead the Vikings to a comeback win. Prior to his exit, Murray was 3 of 5 for 18 yards with an interception.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Murray will now battle opposite the Bucs’ Baker Mayfield, the top selection in the 2018 NFL Draft, at 4:05 p.m. ET on Sunday.
