Kyle Shanahan is ready to end his professional relationship with his father.
According to Rapoport, the younger Shanahan wants to escape the "stigma" that has come with working on his father's coaching staff. Shanahan spent two seasons as offensive coordinator of the Houston Texans before joining the Redskins in 2010. He'll likely attempt to make another lateral move this offseason.
While the news comes as a surprise, it's perhaps less shocking when you consider Kyle Shanahan's meeting with reporters Thursday. Shanahan candidly explained he was frustrated with the team's decision to bench Robert Griffin III for the remainder of the season, while acknowledging he had "zero involvement" in the decision to go with Kirk Cousins.
