Jets' Devin Smith (ribs) expected to miss 4-6 weeks

New York Jets wide receiver Devin Smith suffered broken ribs on Friday, the team announced. The rookie will miss the majority of training camp.

NFL Media's Albert Breer reported Saturday that Smith also suffered a punctured lung, but the injury is minor. The rookie is expected to miss four to six weeks. His status for the season opener on Sept. 13 is "iffy."

Per the team, Smith was being held overnight in a hospital as a precaution.

Smith, a second-round draft pick out of Ohio State, was battling for the No. 3 receiver slot with Jeremy Kerley.
