Injury roundup: Ryan Mathews' season reportedly over

It's been a rough season for San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews. He suffered his biggest disappointment Sunday, especially for fantasy owners who've stuck with him.

Mathews suffered a broken left clavicle during the first half of a 31-7 loss to the Carolina Panthers and is out for the season, according to U-T San Diego. Mathews has struggled to show he can be consistently effective or durable.

There likely will be a new head coach and a new general manager in San Diego next season. They probably won't have faith that Mathews can be a "foundation" starting running back.

Here are the other injuries from Week 15:

  1. The Baltimore Ravens might have the most injury problems in the NFL, with their defense in especially terrible shape. Now their offense has issues, too.

Wide receiver Torrey Smith suffered a concussion during Sunday's 34-17 loss to the Denver Broncos. So did backup running back Bernard Pierce. Linebacker Terrell Suggs battled through a biceps injury and clearly wasn't fully healthy. The Ravens suddenly have to worry about getting healthy enough just to win the AFC North.

  1. Minnesota Vikings defensive end Brian Robison left with a shoulder injury early in a 36-22 win over the St. Louis Rams and never returned.
  1. The Chicago Bears' rotating offensive line took another hit in a 21-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers: Right tackle Jonathan Scott was forced out in the second quarter with a hamstring injury.
  1. Washington Redskins right tackle Tyler Polumbus suffered a concussion during a 38-21 win over the Cleveland Browns.
  1. The Miami Dolphins lost three players to injury during a 24-3 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars: fullback Charles Clay (knee), safety Chris Clemons (stinger) and cornerback Nolan Carroll (knee).
