Hurricane Sandy expected to affect several NFL games

Hurricane Sandy definitely will have an effect on NFL games Sunday, as the weather system nears the East Coast.

NFL Network reporter Jeff Darlington made an appearance on "First on the Field" and said the wind already was blowing in Philadelphia, ahead of the Eagles' game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Ladders had been knocked over at Lincoln Financial Field, and winds were expected to reach 25 mph. Rain shouldn't show up until 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan plays in the comfortable confines of the Georgia Dome. Watch how he deals with the weather. A few words for Michael Vick: Be careful with the ball.

NFL.com and NFL Network's Kimberly Jones did her report from the New York Jets' locker room inside MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. They expect showers throughout the day, 30-mph gusts and general winds in the 15- to 20-mph range. That tends to favor the home team and not the visiting Miami Dolphins.

The Jets are a run-based team anyway. They will be in trouble if they're in a position where they have to rely on Mark Sanchez's arm -- wind or no wind. Dolphins rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill will have to adjust.

The Pittsburgh Steelers host the Washington Redskins at Heinz Field, and they'll have some weather to deal with, too. NFL.com and NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala reported temperatures of 40 degrees, with rain expected to continue throughout the day.

Both Ben Roethlisberger and Robert Griffin III have the arm strength to drive the ball through the wind, but ball security could be an issue with the rain.

The fair-weather San Diego Chargers will have to deal with the Cleveland elements. ESPNCleveland.com's Tony Grossi reported extreme wind and rain at Cleveland Browns Stadium. The Browns will need Trent Richardsonmore than ever if that's the case.

Fantasy owners, that probably means lower scores in those cities.
