Glover Quin gaining interest from Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions' glaring need for secondary help has made them a potential partner with any and every defensive back set to hit the free-agent market.

NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah tweeted Monday night that Houston Texans safety Glover Quin is now linked to Lions talks.

Dashon Goldson has also been linked to Lions reports. NFL Network's Albert Breer reported last week that starter Louis Delmas has an offer from the Lions, but the often-injured safety will test the free agent market.

Quin moved from corner to safety two seasons ago and is one of the most versatile defensive backs on the market. He's the type of safety defensive coordinators are looking for in today's wide-open game: sturdy enough to defend the run, with the ability to flex out and cover a slot receiver or tight end in certain coverages.

The Lions have needed secondary help this entire millennium. There are salary cap concerns in Detroit, so paying big to snag Goldson or Quin could be difficult with all the other needs the Lions have to fill.
