Ed Dickson of Baltimore Ravens to return by Week 1

The Baltimore Ravens have talked all offseason about using tight ends Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta more in the passing game. That plan has taken a few hits in the preseason.

Pitta broke his hand early in camp and will miss the preseason. Dickson left Thursday night's preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons with a shoulder injury, although an MRI confirmed that Dickson didn't suffer any structural damage, according to Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun.

The Ravens project that Dickson will be available for the team's season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. They will likely have to sign some depth to get by in the meantime.

Wilson also notes that it's "feared" defensive end Ryan McBean, already suspended for the first three games of the season, might have broken his ankle against the Falcons.

UPDATE: Wilson reports McBean has a broken ankle and is scheduled to meet with Dr. Robert Anderson on Monday.
