Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie could face fine for hit

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie delivered the season's first egregiously illegal hit during Thursday's preseason matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers.

With 1:12 remaining in the first quarter of what would become a 24-23 Eagles victory, Rodgers-Cromartie launched himself into Byron Leftwich, leveling the Steelers quarterback and drawing a 15-yard roughing-the-passer penalty. Leftwich didn't appear to be injured on the play and remained in the game.

It was the type of play the NFL should use for future video presentations on what not to do. Rodgers-Cromartie is sure to face a hefty fine from the league.
