Dimitri Patterson released by New York Jets

The good news for former AWOL New York Jets cornerback Dimitri Patterson: His suspension is over. The bad news: He's no longer on the team.

The Jetsconfirmed the release of Patterson on Saturday. The team was disappointed with Patterson's commitment and attitude. He had slipped down the depth chart during training camp.

Still, this is a disappointing step for the Jets. They had hoped that Patterson would add some veteran know-how to a badly inexperienced secondary. He was expected to start for much of the offseason. This is the worst-looking secondary that Rex Ryan has ever coached.
